Gardens at Schonbrunn Palace

Admission to going inside the Schonbrunn Palace (Schloss Schoenbrunn) needs a ticket, but you surely can visit the gardens at Schonbrunn Palace for free. The Schonbrunn Palace and its gardens are one of the must-visits when you are in Vienna. 

The gardens are a great place for walking, running, taking a romantic stroll, or for a picnic. You will see gorgeous greenery, fountains, Roman ruins, and statues. If you walk to the Gloriette, you will be treated to a spectacular view of Vienna and the Schonbrunn Palace.

But if you want to take tours of the Cathedral and catacombs, you will have to buy tickets. Other churches you can visit for free are St. Peter’s Church, St. Michael’s Church, Scottish Church, among others. 

MUSA (Museum Start Gallery Artothek)

If you are into contemporary art, plan a visit to MUSA (Museum Start Gallery Artothek) which has one of the biggest collections of contemporary art in Austria. Of course, admission is free.

Other museums you can visit for free are District Museum Inner City (Bezirksmuseen), Money Museum (Geldmuseum), Georg Kargl Fine Arts.

Naschmarkt & Brunnenmarkt

Walk along with the shops at Vienna’s farmers’ markets, Naschmarkt and Brunnenmarkt. Both these markets are open Monday through Saturday from 6 am to 7 pm (5 pm on Saturday).

City Hall (Rathaus) 

You can get a guided tour of Vienna City Hall (Rathaus) for free at 1 pm every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The tours are in German, but free audio guides are available in French, English, Italian, and Spanish.

Street Art Passage
